METEROLOGY OF LAKE TAHOE

Knowing the meterology that drives motions and heat exchange in a lake is an essential component of understanding its behavior. Since the 1990's, TERC has been installing and operating a series of real-time weather stations around the lake in order to provide this data (see Real-time Monitoring Section for more information). Currently there are seven meteorological stations on docks around the lake, and a further six on buoys. Four of these buoys are operated jointly with NASA/JPL and contain a variety of additional environmental sensors.

Most recently TERC has collaborated with DRI in setting up TahoeClim, a web-based portal for all meteorological data in the greater Tahoe region.
