Katie Hughes
Bio

Katie Stagl Hughes is a PhD candidate in Civil & Environmental Engineering in the Environmental Dynamics Lab. She is studying water resources engineering with a focus on physical limnology and oceanography. Her current research focuses on physical processes in ice-covered lakes and trying to understand the implications of circulation patterns on water quality and the ecosystem. She has traveled to Quebec, Canada multiple times to complete field experiments on and off the ice. Her field experiments will be coupled with hydrodynamic modeling to better predict circulation patterns underneath the ice.
