Kenny is a PhD student in the Civil & Environmental Engineering department. As part of his MS research, he used hydrodynamic models to quantify the impact of river restoration projects on salmonid habitat. Stemming from this project, he co-developed software for assessment and design of river restoration projects.

Currently, he is modeling the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to help understand contaminant transport in this region. He also works with autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), using them to study turbulence associated with physical processes in lakes and their ecological implications.
