Growing up running around California’s mountains, lakes and coast, Mahren fell in love with the outdoors at a young age. Eager to learn more about the natural world around her, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Pitzer College. While at Pitzer, Mahren researched halogen concentration and distribution in igneous rocks from the Sierra Nevada. Mahren is excited to combine her scientific background with her passion for teaching and her love for the Sierra Nevada while serving at the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center. Mahren loves being outdoors and is an avid rock climber and adventurer. She is passionate about helping others get outside and become confident and responsible recreators.
