Soffia is from San Francisco and Marin County, and recently graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She developed a passion for aquatic ecology and conservation as part of a lab at UCI conducting long-term water quality monitoring of Eastern Sierra Nevada alpine lake ecosystems. She also conducted field research with an intertidal ecology lab at UCI studying climate change impacts on Southern California Rocky Intertidal habitats. She additionally participated in the 2024 TERC Internship for Scholars as a field intern, and is excited to continue sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for the preservation of Lake Tahoe through environmental education. In her free time she enjoys hiking, kayaking, baking, live music, and traveling.
