Things are certainly heating up at Tahoe around this time and there's no better place to cool off than in Lake Tahoe. Be aware that water temperatures are still considered rather chilly during this time and in fact, due to the unique physics of this lake, it may be deathly cold. Wind events, push the warm surface water from one side of the lake to the other. That warm surface water movement causes cold waters to upwell and fill in for that missing surface water. Be sure to check real-time conditions at Lake Tahoe before you go plunging into frigid waters.
Tahoe is hopping in summer time, there are many events happening all around the basin and at the Tahoe Science Center. Be sure to check our events calendar to see if you want to feed you mind and feed your body at one of our popular libation events such as wine and terroir, where you learn about the local wines, how to taste them, and the science behind their production.
