Bio

Dante's research focuses on the impacts of wildfires on Lake Tahoe and its aquatic foodweb. His interests lie in microbial life: from bacteria to zooplankton and the critical functions they play in cycling nutrients and maintaining the Lake's health. Dante completed his PhD in Oceanography with an interdisciplinary specialization at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where he studied plankton in the California Current Ecosystem through molecular and imaging approaches, how extreme wildfires affect marine ecosystems, and engaged in cross-disciplinary work with humanities scholars examining the changing practices of oceanographic data collection and visualization.
