Dr. Thirkill’s experiences living abroad have shaped her passion for addressing the impacts of population growth and climate change on communities and ecosystems. During her PhD at UC Davis, she led nutrient monitoring and sonar surveys of freshwater systems to study greenhouse gas emissions and climate change impacts. Ruth now aims to work as an environmental consultant, leveraging remote sensing and modeling tools to improve resource management and protect natural habitats.
